Children Up For Adoption In California

If you are thinking of adopting a child, you will be glad to know that there are many children up for adoption in California. You might be having a lot of questions on your mind with regards to the procedure of adoption that is involved. In this editorial, an attempt has been made to tackle the main issues concerning children that are up for adoption in California.

More adoptions occur in California each year than any other state (followed closely by New York). There is domestic adoption (adopting a non-relative child from within the United States), international adoption (adopting a non-relative child from another country), step parent adoption (adopting a child who is the legal child of one’s spouse) and adult adoption (the adoption of an adult from within the United States). Wikipedia

Adoption is all about caring for a child

Let us first look at what adoption actually is.  Adoption is a legal process. It gives legal parental rights permanently to the adoptive parents. Adoption involves welcoming a child into your life and home as permanent member of the family. You will care for and guide such a child as they grow and give them understanding and love they need for developing their complete potential.

Additional responsibilities after the adoption

If you and your partner work, you will not have to quit your job if you want to adopt. Both the parents could work provided they make suitable childcare arrangements but you would have to take a few days off from work when the child comes to your home and both you and the child start the emotional attachment process. You could speak to your employer about the benefit packages that you could avail as adoptive parent. This includes leave time and financial support.

Adoption laws in California

Adoptions are governed by the Family Code. In an independent adoption, the placing birth parent signs an Adoption Placement Agreement a few days after birth. This can become permanent 30 days later, or she can waive those 30 days and make the consent permanent immediately. In an agency adoption, the birth parent signs a relinquishment, which can be made permanent immediately, or allow a variable time frame in which to revoke the consent, as agreed upon by the birth parent and agency. The vast majority of adoptions are successful and few birth parents change their mind, in part due to the providing of counselling prior to the placement. Birth fathers can elect to sign the same consenting forms as the birth mother. As a practical matter, however, some non-marital birth fathers can’t be found, or decline to be involved. California law allows their rights to be terminated if they don’t come forward to actively object, or if they can’t be found or their identity is unknown.

I do not have a house – Can I still consider looking at children for adoption here in California?

The answer is Yes, you can.  You can adopt even if you don’t have a house of your own as long as you provide the child with a home. The home should be safe whether you own or rent it. It should be spacious enough to accommodate all family members. The factor that is important is guidance, understanding and love you could give to a child. Emotional giving overrides all material comforts.

I am a single woman, men – Can I still consider looking at children for adoption here in California?

The answer is Yes, you can.  Single women and men could adopt too. In fact, around a quarter of children up for adoption in California are given homes by single people.  So if you are single, as long as you can provide the child a safe and  caring environment for the child to grow up to their full potential, then yes, you can consider looking at children for adoption in California.

I am over forty – Can I still consider looking at children for adoption here in California?

The answer is Yes, you can.  You can adopt even if you are over forty.  Age does not matter when it comes to adopting a child. You only have to enjoy good health and have desire and energy for parenting.  A 50 – 55 year old couple or person would be ideal for adopting older children.  You do not want to leave the child at a young age alone when you are gone from this world.  So while age does not stop you from adopting a child, it is a factor that one must consider when adopting a child.

Special needs adoption are given priority

The home study is usually completed in 6 – 9 months.  However families keen on adopting children having special needs are generally give immediate attention. Adoptive children would be placed in their homes in a few months’ time.

Most children up for adoption in California are either school aged or have sisters and brothers who must stay together. A lot of children are emotionally disabled. Others have developmental, physical or mental disabilities, and over half the children belong to the minority cultures. Boys are a majority. Caucasian children less than 5 years of age might have serious medical infirmities or elder sisters and brothers. Latino children, those having mixed heritage and African Americans cover wider range of age and include infants that are healthy.

Most children up for adoption in California live in group or foster homes as their parents are not capable of taking care of them. Often family and personal problems lead to the parents not being able to maintain homes for such children. A number of such children have undergone neglect, abuse and abandonment. All of them need love of permanent family.

Adopt A Cat – A Brave Cat Named Iron Who Needs A Home

Are you a cat lover?  How would you like to be ever heard or read some cat stories like some big mama cat that have been so brave in fighting for her kittens.  Like humans, cats too are very intuitive especially if it comes to their family, and Iron is one of a kind.

If you want to have a brave and cuddly cat for your own then you must get to know Iron.  The following is an excerpt of the story about Iron, the cat who has wanted to get a home for herself.

What would you do if there was a raccoon eying your babies?  You would grab a baby and run. That is how I ended up at PAWS.

adoptacat Adopt a Cat A Brave Cat Named Iron Who Needs a Home

Adopt Me!

That raccoon was scaring me, so I took one baby in my mouth and started across the street.  That seemed unwise, so I headed back. I guess some people noticed me looking indecisive and worried. It was my lucky day when I was rescued with that kitten in my mouth. It was an even luckier day because my rescuers went back and looked around and found my other three kittens.  We were taken to a warm place with great food and nice people. My kittens grew up fat, sassy and safe and they all got adopted. It’s only me left now and I am looking for a home of my own. One without drama. That one exciting day was enough for my lifetime.

Did you see my picture? I think I am kind of cute with my petite physique and dilute tortie markings. While I would have faced down any ogre to protect my kittens, I have to admit I can be a little shyer with people.  Now that I know my foster family, however, I do trust them.  I love when they pat me and I will jump into my foster’s lap when she is working on the computer. To be honest, I’m actually looking to order some catnip from Amazon.com, but she thinks I want to cuddle. I do cuddle with her on the sofa when she watches television. I especially like to roll over and show my belly for a good rub. more

So, if you agree and would wholeheartedly accept the offer that Iron has then you can finally meet her in person.  If you are so interested to get her then you need to contact the main source where you can find her at their websites at PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com or at www.pawswakefield.org.

What’s In A Name?

article 2144921 131C755E000005DC 775 634x857 What’s In A Name?Naming a child could be quite an exciting thing to do as well as it could be quite difficult sometimes on what could be the right name. Some couple usually would combine their names which sometimes children having combined names of parents could sound so weird and strange. Some would name their child after the names of their parents or grandparents; others too would name it after their idol celebrity stars. Either the child could be biologically yours or being adoptive, this matter could never stand on the way in giving names to the child.

What’s in a name is what most people could think of especially if the maker is a popular one. As it happens, every name of a person has always has a story behind and there is nothing wrong with what Katherine Heigl have done on her two adoptive children. To quote the writer of the article about the new adopted children of Josh and Katherine, it says:

“She called her first daughter Naleigh and Katherine Heigl has chosen yet another unusual moniker for her second child.
The Knocked Up actress, 33, and her rocker beau Josh Kelley, 32, have named their new addition Adalaide Marie Hope.
The couple, who adopted the baby last month, have not revealed the meaning behind it but it’s likely to be sentimental.
Naleigh is a hybrid tribute to Heigl’s mother Nancy and sister Margaret Leigh.
Katherine, who was spotted on Mother’s Day with her two daughters and husband and today in a pretty floral dress teamed with blue heels, recently said she was ‘overcome with emotion’ when she met Adalaide for the first time.
The 27 Dresses actress and her singer/songwriter Josh were ‘bouncing off the walls with excitement and anticipation’ as they waited to hear about the birth.” more

Well, Katherine and Josh could be right, there is no such rule on how you are going to raise your family, so long as there is love in your home, including of course peace and understanding, a family could be a family. As the couple have decided on having one or two more adoptions, you could never tell what the name or names of their next child could be.

Who Should Own The Lost Kid

There is nothing more hurting than a mother separated from her own child. Child is a gift from God as the great book says and it holds true until these days. A mother painstakingly bear the child in her womb for nine months and her whole life depended on the day that the child is born. She has given nourishment to her child from the day that she bears it in her womb until to the day that the child is born. She sacrifices so many things just to spare the health of her baby. Then as the child is born the more that she cared for such child in order to grow. Then all of a sudden, some bad persons would separate them through abduction, the mother’s feelings then have died down in desperation.

These usually happen in the movies but there are several real cases that are happening in the lives of some people. There are many kidnapping cases that are unsolved till these days. Many children have been separated by their parents because they were being kidnapped. To the dismay of the mothers there children may have lived but have been adopted or sold to other people. Rage and excruciating pain are what these mothers have felt and they could never do a thing except to wait. Just like on what had happened a couple of days ago in Guatemala. It has been reported by Romina Ruiz-Goiriena, an excerpt of her report stated as:

“A Guatemalan mother who says her child was stolen and later turned over to a U.S. couple for adoption said Tuesday that she will go to a Missouri court seeking to get her daughter back now that the U.S. State Department has said it doesn’t have jurisdiction to help return the girl.

The State Department confirmed Tuesday that it has informed Guatemala’s government that it can’t help return Anyeli Hernandez Rodriguez because the U.S. and Guatemala had not signed the Hague Abduction Convention at the time of the alleged kidnapping in 2006.

“We’re obviously deeply concerned about allegations regarding stolen children and inter-country adoptions wherever these cases come up,” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement. “We consider the appropriate venue in the United States for pursuing this case is in the state courts. They’re the competent organ for holding a full hearing on the merits and the best interests of the child.”

A human rights group that has pursued the case in Guatemala’s courts on behalf of the child’s biological mother, Loyda Rodriguez, said the next step will be to find a U.S. law firm to file a civil suit charging immigration fraud.

The group, the Survivor Foundation, doesn’t allege that the adoptive couple knew anything about the girl being kidnapped. It argues only that the adoption in 2008 wasn’t valid because of the abduction and the girl should be returned to her biological mother.

In a phone conversation with The Associated Press, Rodriguez said she still has hope she will be reunited with her little girl, now 7, who she hasn’t seen since she was 2.

“I’m looking for a law firm that will pursue this in the courts in the United States,” she said. “Even if she can’t come home, to at least be able to have contact with her.”

Anyeli was born Oct. 1, 2004, the second child of Rodriguez, a housewife, and her bricklayer husband, Dayner Orlando Hernandez. She disappeared Nov. 3, 2006, as Rodriguez was distracted while opening the door to their house in a working class suburb, San Miguel Petapa. She turned to see a woman whisk the girl away in a taxi.

The girl spent over a year at an adoption agency before being adopted by Timothy and Jennifer Monahan of Liberty, Missouri.

Rodriguez obtained a Guatemalan court order last July for the return of Anyeli, who left the country on Dec. 9, 2008, according to court records. The court ruled that the girl had been stolen from her family.
A public relations firm the Monahans hired said last year that they “will continue to advocate for the safety and best interests of their legally adopted child.” Their lawyer declined to comment Tuesday.
An attorney and the legal representative of the Guatemalan agency that handled the adoption were both convicted of human trafficking last fall. A third woman was detained and charged last month with trafficking, conspiracy and forgery in connection with the adoption.

“When Guatemalan authorities determined the adoption was illegal, it nullified all of the child’s fraudulent documentation that was used to process her adoption. This includes her Guatemalan passport, which she used to exit the country,” said Fredy Coti, a lawyer at the Survivors Foundation.
Coti believes that gives the case grounds for a hearing in Missouri state court.” more

With or without the law of the land, the child should therefore be entrusted back to the biological mother. It was never the intention of any mother to lose their child on the first place they are the victims of such crime. To those people also who have supposedly adopted the child as in the case above, they should have compassion to the real mother of their adopted child and give back the child to the real parents. However, as the land is governed by certain laws, certain legal procedures should be followed and the case above would still follow such proceedings. Only the law then could determine who could have the legal right of the child, the biological mother or the adoptive parents.

Prudent Financial Planning – Adopt Your Girlfriend Today

Adopt Your Girlfriend

Financial planning has taken a twist to its meaning when John Goodman, the Hoston millionaire was convicted of DUI in Florida.

On Feb. 12, 2010, Goodman crashed his $200,000 Bentley into 23-year-old Scott Williams’ car near West Palm Beach, Florida. The crash pushed Williams’ car into a roadside canal. Goodman eventually called 911, but only after he walked away from the scene. Williams died and police say Goodman was drunk. Police charged him with DUI manslaughter.

Goodman, 48, had moved to Florida, founded a polo club, and started a new life after his divorce here. He fought the charges saying he wasn’t drunk, instead his Bentley just malfunctioned.

While the criminal case moved on, Williams’ family sued in civil court. Then came the decision in February that made Goodman a household name — he decided to adopt his 42-year-old girlfriend Heather Hutchins. more

Why did John Goodman adopt his girlfriend?

John Goodman is a millionaire.  He owns a polo club and has his own private jet.  In adopting his girlfriend, John Goodman is now able to protect the management of his $100 million  for his 2 daughters.

Adopted Children Are Not Normal – You Suck!

Adopted Children Are Not Normal

Adopted Children Are Not Normal – really?

Whoever said this sucks!  Did people really said this?  You bet there is.

Because adopting kids — then raising them — is really easy. They’re like Chia pets: you just go to Walmart, pick one or two up, water them once in a while and they grow into amazing things. more..

I am not against Catholic – but I am against whoever said the above.

More than 150,000 children are adopted in US every year.  It is absolutely sickening to hear people say that these 150,000 children are not normal and belittling the adopting parents are sheer sick.  I personally feel that these adopting parents are noble.  They willingly gave up their personal time and energy for the sake of these child who has no parents to turn to.

Adopting children is a lifelong commitment.  The adopting parents are making a pledge to devote their time and love to the adopted kids for many many years.  So why would people belittle these adopting parents?

Shame on you on those that call these adopted children not normal!
